A CV for a UK visa-sponsored role needs the same core content as any strong CV, plus a few sponsorship-specific details employers actually need to know upfront: your current visa/right-to-work status, whether you require sponsorship, and experience described in terms that map clearly to the role's SOC code.
Employers screening candidates need to know quickly whether a role will require sponsorship. A short, factual line (e.g. "Requires Skilled Worker visa sponsorship" or your current visa type and expiry if already in the UK) removes ambiguity and avoids being screened out later in the process for a reason that could have been clear from the start.
Because eligibility is checked against a specific occupation code (see SOC codes), describing your actual duties and seniority clearly — not just a job title — makes it easier for an employer (or an ATS) to see the role maps to an eligible, well-paid occupation.
If you state a salary expectation, keep it consistent with what the target occupation's going rate typically requires for sponsorship — asking for less than the minimum a sponsor would legally need to pay you can itself create confusion about whether the role is eligible.
